The Vehicle Weighing Solutions Ltd (VWS) team managed to stand their ground against the best in the business at the National Refuse Championships (NRC) 2018, despite competing against professional loaders and drivers.
The event took place on Saturday 16 June in Weston-super-Mare and over 30 teams took part. The VWS team comprised Trevor Evans, Andy Mirecki, Richard Marsh, Ross Wilson and Slav Kauc (a driver kindly loaned by Gaskells Waste), and they managed to get through to the knock-out round. The winning team was Grist Environmental with second and third places taken by Biffa (Weston-super-Mare) and Cartwrights Waste Disposal Services, respectively.
Trevor Evans said: “It was very competitive out there and we fought hard. I’m very proud of the team and what we achieved. It is a great event for a great charity and the crowd were really supportive.”
On Friday 15 June, the day before the races took place, VWS participated in the NRC exhibition and VWS Software Solutions delivered a presentation on integrated waste software and bin-weighing as part of the seminar programme. The company’s market leading ENVIROWEIGH bin-weighing system and underbody weighing technology featured on various vehicles on other exhibitor’s stands including Devon Contract Waste, FCS and Greenline Environmental.
Andy Mirecki, Managing Director, VWS Software Solutions said: “This event is great fun. A lot of our customers are here so it’s been good networking, and competing, with them plus we’re raising lots of money for a fantastic charity.”
